{"id":23,"date":"2020-04-07T02:21:16","date_gmt":"2020-04-07T02:21:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/emanuelstjohnchurch.us\/?page_id=22"},"modified":"2020-04-07T02:21:16","modified_gmt":"2020-04-07T02:21:16","slug":"emmanuel-lutheran","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/emanuelstjohnchurch.us\/?page_id=23","title":{"rendered":"Emanuel Lutheran"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Emanuel- (God is with us)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As more settlers found spiritual needs action was taken Feb. 6, 1879, following a divine service at the home of Edward Kiecker Sr to form an organization known as Evangelical Lutheran Saint Emanuel\u2019s congregation.\u00a0 Church was first conducted by a Lutheran Pastor from the New Auburn area names Rev. Henry Albrecht.\u00a0 He preached for the next year and half, then was replaced by Pastor J. Vollmar.\u00a0 Services were conducted in members homes.\u00a0 In Dec. 1880, a new calling was in place for a pastor and his name was Pastor John Grabarkewitz. Church-Parsonage was built in 1880 1 mile west of the location now.\u00a0 In 1881 the congregation was incorporated.\u00a0 In 1883 the congregation affiliated itself with Minnesota Synod which later became part of the present-day Wisconsin Synod. 1883 a new location of the church and parsonage was purchased since the church was growing.\u00a0 Feb 1884, Emanuel sent a call to Pastor C.F. Hilpert. He served for 18 years and 1890 he organized St. John\u2019s in Fairfax.\u00a0 1889 a new church was built which started in May and ended in the following summer.\u00a0 In 1892 the steeple tower was designed to carry a set of bells, which was filled in 1901 with 2 bells.\u00a0 Pastor Julius Engel started preaching in 1902 after being installed on the 10<sup>th<\/sup> Sunday after Trinity, his pastorate lasted just short of 10 years.\u00a0 Late June of 1912 a call was issued to Pastor E.G. Fritz, he had the longest pastorate at Emanuel of 36 years.\u00a0 The first 2 years in his ministry, 2 major additions were made to the church.\u00a0 The first was the installation of a used pipe organ.\u00a0 The second major improvement t0 the church was the completion of a 12X16 foot addition to the east end of church.\u00a0 In July 1948, Pastor G.F. Zimmermann was installed in an English Language service.\u00a0 Pastor Zimmermann received a call in 1957.\u00a0 Pastor Martin Lemke was installed in Nov. 17, 1957.\u00a0 Pastor Lemke left in 1967.\u00a0 Pastor Erling Carmichael was installed in 1968.\u00a0 He preached until 1975.\u00a0 Pastor Victor Starbuck was installed early spring on 1976.\u00a0 Pastor Ruppel was here from 1982-1986 then was replaced with Pastor Bundy from 1988-1995.
